While we can't be sure exactly what the problem(s) with our 360s are being caused by, the result in each case is the death of a $400 piece of electronics, and sometimes small animals when we can't get our Oblivion fix. We can speculate about the problem, however, and when you're dealing with a device that essentially crams the guts of a decent gaming PC into a shell only about 30% as large, heat is an obvious suspect.

NYKO seems to have followed a similar thought process and has responded to the Xbox 360 plague by quickly developing and releasing their Intercooler 360. The unit is essentially three extra cooling fans in a plastic housing that snaps onto the rear of the Xbox 360 to circulate more air and thus lower the internal temperature of the box. It's a rather clever preventative solution, and is carried off quite well.



The Intercooler 360 is molded from white plastic that matches the 360's color and styling very nicely. It snaps on to the back of the 360 tightly, over the console's own internal fan, with simple plastic clips that pop into the ventilation holes on the back of the console. The 360's power cord plugs into the Intercooler in the same position it normally would on the 360. The Intercooler adds about 2 inches to the overall depth of the 360, but doesn't get in the way of the AV or network jacks. The Intercooler turns on and off when the 360 starts and shuts down, and it can be manually turned off with a built-in switch.



Thanks two its three fans, the Intercooler 360 moves significantly more air through the 360 chassis than the single internal fan. It's easy to feel the difference simply by putting a hand behind the console and feeling the heat being pumped out. We could also feel a lot of cool air being sucked into the 360 through the vents in front of the HDD unit. Sadly, we don't have the equipment to test internal temperatures, but NYKO claims as much as a 10 degree difference in internal temperature with the Intercooler vs. without. While we can't confirm such results, we wouldn't be surprised to find them accurate, as Intercooler unquestionably increases airflow in a big way.




Of course, the addition of the three cooling fans is not without its cost. While the 360 is a somewhat noisy console to begin with, with an Intercooler attached it reaches gaming-PC-noise levels. If you sit with it at a desk, you'll certainly hear a difference with the Intercooler running, which might bother you. On the other hand, if you've got the 360 setup near your TV and you are sitting on the couch, it's much less likely you'll notice any difference at all.



Conclusion
While no consensus has been reached as to why so many Xbox 360s are breaking down, we do know that they tend to break a lot. If you've installed your 360 in a cramped entertainment cabinet or anywhere without a lot of ventilation, you're likely asking for trouble, and we can assure you that getting a broken 360 replaced is not a fun process. Even if you your 360 is breathing freely, the Intercooler 360 might provide a little extra peace of mind that your $400 console won't suddenly get tired of living. The Gear Xbox 360 will have an Intercooler installed at all times for long-term testing, and if it still breaks, we'll be sure to update. Until then, however, count us as quite pleased with the Intercooler 360's performance.

Con respecto a lo consolero si xD
Si y lo aborrezco >_<, cuando cambie la pc pude haber elegido Linux pero me daba paja aprender a usarlo =P

Obvio q ganan guita con esto, pero no creo que la intencion haya sido sacar una consola de 400 dolares defectuosa para despues poder venderte la mierda esa del cooler para ganar mas guita, aprovechar lo hacen, pero creo que cuando aparezca la competencia los consumidores van a pensarlo 2 veces antes de comprarla.

Sistema de enfriamiento de Xbox 360


Desde su lanzamiento, el Xbox 360 se ha dado a conocer por el sobrecalentamiento del sistema

Son varios los usuarios que se han quejado acerca del sobrecalentamiento del Xbox 360, es por eso que third parties han lanzado sistemas de ventilación para que la consola se mantenga en una temperatura segura, pero los modders siempre van un paso adelante y han inventado un nuevo sistema de enfriamiento basado en agua.

Koolance es la primer compañía en explotar comercialmente un sistema de enfriamiento hidráulico para el Xbox 360. El Exos LT, es un aparato creado por la empresa que utiliza mangueras por las que circula el agua. Éstas, al ser colocadas cerca del procesador y la tarjeta gráfica, los mantiene fríos.

Sin embargo, utilizar este dispositivo va en contra de los lineamientos de Microsoft de no abrir la consola y modificarla, además de que al hacerlo, se estaría invalidando la garantía.

El precio del Exos LT es de 394.99 dólares y no viene con un instructivo para instalarlo en el Xbox 360.

el aparatito viene SIN instrucciones XD ...jajajaja ni en pedo !! encima que sobrecalienta con eso anulo la garantia y no da XD (si tubiera una 360)

mejor utilizo algo como el sistema de enfriamento de las ps2 (?¡) (no play station 2...ps2 que viene sin cooler) le pongo un ventilador cerca . ja XD ( eso funciona no thanos ? XD lo del ventilador XD)
